2. Survivors' Stairs

In between the escalator and the regular stairs is another very special staircase called the Survivors’ Stairs. This staircase was used by hundreds of people on Sept. 11 to get to safety. Next to the stairs is a recognizable photo of several evacuees who tried to escape from the burning Twin Towers via the stairs. 3. The Foundation Hall
After descending the stairs in the New York 9/11 Museum, you come into Foundation Hall. Immediately to the left you will see a very large wall with a piece of art created by Spencer Finch. It consists of 2,983 square tiles, each tile a different shade of blue, to commemorate every life lost on 9/11 and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. On the wall is an evocative quote by Virgil that reads, “No day shall erase you from the memory of time.”
Furthermore, you will find in the Foundation the Last Column. This is the last piece of Twin Tower steel removed from Ground Zero on May 20, 2002. You will also find a large piece of twisted steel that used to be located on the 93rd to 99th floors. This was where the first plane drilled into the tower.
4. The fire truck of fire unit Ladder 3.
If you continue walking toward the north tower in the New York 9/11 museum, you will come across a number of destroyed vehicles such as an ambulance and the completely destroyed fire truck of firefighting unit Charger 3. The Ladder 3 team was one of the first fire units to arrive at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately, Ladder 3’s fire truck was severely damaged by falling debris from the collapsing Twin Towers. And in the process, all 11 firefighters from Ladder 3 also died.
5. Historical exhibition space
The Historical exhibition room is perhaps the most impressive room in the New York 9/11 Museum. In this room, through photographs, images and sound recordings, experience the entire attack anew. Several farewell phone calls from the planes and towers can be heard, and there are special niches with photos and images that can be experienced as very shocking. No photographs or sound recordings are allowed in the Historical exhibition area.
6. 9/11 Memorial Museum's Tribute Walk
The final section of the New York 9/11 museum is the Memorial Museum’s Tribute Walk. It is a beautiful part of the museum where you can admire all kinds of artifacts that have been donated to the museum in memory of the fallen firefighters and other victims.
